| Dear Friend, In December of 2000 we were introduced to Bridget Zoltek at a local specialized learning center, where she was the Director. At that time, my son was 14 years old and in the 8th grade at a private school for students with learning problems. Over time, it became apparent to my wife and I that there appeared to be a deeper underlying problem with his comprehension, his ability to focus, and some other learning issues. We had tried Huntington and Sylvan Learning Centers, tutors, and had finally transferred him mid-year to the small private school he was currently enrolled in. Nothing had helped him catch up or be more successful with school. Our son's self esteem and confidence was declining and our concerns for what to do for him was becoming desperate. I began researching learning disorders on the Internet. I found many resources that were quite informative and the information pointed that we were headed in the right direction in our search for help for our son. Then, one day, at his private school, I was discussing learning problems with another parent and was wondering out loud what to do with my new-found knowledge and asked if she knew where to go for this special kind of help. We were quickly referred to Ms. Zoltek. Within the first 10 minutes of meeting her, I realized the final piece of the puzzle that we had so desperately been looking for had been found. Ms. Zoltek's knowledge and experience was almost overwhelming. She knew where we were, where we had been, and had formed a strong idea of my son's problems. She first recommended a series of tests, and then the probable path to get him the help he needed. She knew about specific solutions to specific learning problems. I will skip the details about the "repairing" of my son. Suffice it to say that there was a lot of time and sacrifice involved. But these led to the amazing change in our sons learning ability. His latest report card had an overall GPA of 3.25 and he is predicting a 3.5 for the next. He's been back in a large public school, in regular ed classes, has no accommodations, plays sports, is an independent learner, is aiming higher with his goals, and is planning for college. I trust that Ms. Zoltek will be the missing puzzle piece for you and your family in your search for learning solutions. The change is truly amazing -- but don't be fooled. This is not a quick fix or a get rich scheme. It is the retraining of a brain. I believe that with time, specific programs, and work you and your family can experience the same results that we did. Your world can be changed. It's just a shame that every child and every family doesn't have the chance to have this experience. I hope our schools can gain a better understanding of learning in the future. Good Luck, SAG
